MYU Teacher Newsletter – May 2005
Hello again. First off, these newsletters are not going to be a monthly thing, so don’t get your hopes up (yeah, right). We just wanted to announce some new features.
NEW FEATURES
- Schools & Subbing We added two little boxes that you can click if you’re looking for a job at a school or available for substitute teaching. Now schools that cruise the site will know whether or not they should contact you. So, come back and visit and make a click or two!
- Postal Code (pronounced “zip code” in American) What? Are we going to mail you stuff now? No, but feel free to send us some size 12 loafers when you go back for holiday. We ask for your postal code so that students can know where you are in Chinese. Try writing “Xinyi” in English and asking a Taiwanese if they know where that is. Most won’t, and we can’t blame them, just ask Wade and Giles or Mr. and Mrs. Tongyong. But never fear! With our handy postal code feature, your district gets translated into Chinese allowing more students to better know where you can teach. So come back to the site and type in those three digits of fun. If you don’t know what your postal code is, pick up the nearest letter addressed to you and look for the first 3-digit number you can see. Odds are, that will be it. Otherwise, use the link on the site.
- How Refreshing There really is a link between your profile’s date and how many times it gets viewed by students. We’ve seen many teachers with no hits get viewed within days after updating their profile. Irregardless (and that’s not even a word!), your profile isn’t going to find you much work sitting there on page 20. Anyway, this is so important that we’ve spent countess hours (er...well...two or three at least) putting a cute little green button on the main page. Just log in, press it, and voila your profile goes to the top of the list! But just one press per day please since that little button gets tired easily. (Note: you need to log in to see it, unless you use our psychic “Remember Me” box.)
